Introduction of the MAX6603 Dual Pt-RTD Signal Conditioner

The MAX6603's RTD input features +16V overvoltage protection and ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection to ensure reliable operation with RTD temperature probes. The MAX6603 monitors for RTD faults and pulls down their respective /DG outputs under fault conditions. Its analog output voltage can be easily connected to a variety of microcontrollers.
The MAX6603 is available in a tiny, 10-pin TDFN-EP package and operates over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range and operates from a single +3V to +5.5V supply.
The figure shows the MAX6603 dual-channel Pt-RTD signal conditioner. It provides excitation current source, gain and input protection for two 200Ω Pt-RTDs. The output is proportional to the supply voltage and can be digitally converted by an ADC using the supply voltage as a reference. The input can withstand ±5kV ESD strikes.
