Brazos APU Evolution Early Next Year: Radeon HD 7000 GPU Core

As the first set of APU accelerated processor platform available, Brazos's vitality is very tenacious. Before the next generation of 28nm Krishna/Wichta next year, it will evolve to "Brazos 2.0" (implying that 28nm new products may wait until the second half), CPU/ GPU frequency double upgrade, especially the GPU graphics core will also become Radeon HD 7000 series in the model name, and the chipset will also usher in a new member.

The Brazos 2.0 platform will have two new APU processors "E1-1200", "E2-1800", an FCH chipset "A68M" and of course the A50M.

The E1-1200 will replace the E-300 and its clock speed will increase to 1.4GHz. The graphics core will be named Radeon HD 7310. It will still be 80 stream processors, but the frequency will increase slightly to 500MHz. Other specifications remain unchanged, including dual-core, secondary cache 1MB, memory frequency DDR3-1066/DDR3L-1066, and thermal design power consumption of 18W.

E2-1800 is used to replace the E-450, the main frequency slightly raised to 1.7GHz, the graphics core named Radeon HD 7340, the frequency also added to 680/523MHz two levels, while still dual-core, 1MB L2 cache, DDR3 -1333/DDR3L-1066 memory frequency, 18W thermal design power consumption.

In general, the CPU/GPU frequency is only slightly increased. The so-called "Radeon HD 7000" is just a good name.

E1-1200 and E2-1800 are scheduled to complete trial production in mid-December of this year, and will finally be put into production in mid-February 2012, and will be officially released in the first quarter.

In addition, we can see from the roadmap that E-350, E-240, and C-50 will both be withdrawn from the stage of history in the second quarter of 2012. However, it is strange that the bottom C-30 will continue until the end of 2012. As an upgraded version of the E-450, E-300, C-60 will begin in the fourth quarter of 2012 to enter the process of suspension of production and delisting.

On the chipset side, the A68M is codenamed Hudson M3L. This shows that the Hudson M3 A70M is a streamlined version of the mainstream platform model. The main reason is that the SATA 6Gbps interface has been reduced from six to two, but it still supports RAID 0 that A50M does not have. 1, The USB interface is reduced to two USB 3.0, eight USB 2.0, and the fan control and VGA DAC controller are deleted.

Also in the first quarter of 2012 will be the new platform "Brazos-T" for tablet computers. The chipset will be named A55T, and its specifications will be significantly simplified. The processor will be the Z-01.
