In addition to the GMO Group, there is also a Japanese company that is developing and producing 7-nanometer mining machines. Triple-1 has been working on 7-nanometer chips and expects the miner to ship in November, just shortly after GMO's expected delivery time.
Development of 7-nanometer devicesTriple-1 Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company established in November 2016, headquartered in Fukuoka, mainly engaged in the development of ASIC chips and the construction of cryptocurrency mines. The company started to develop 7-nanometer Bitcoin mining chips in February last year.
This week, Triple-1 confirmed that it has completed the 7-nanometer ASIC chip Kamikaze's silicon wafers, chip samples, motherboard samples and prototypes.
A representative of the company told reporters, "We have already started testing the function and efficiency of sample chips and prototypes." He also mentioned that the company and the cooperating manufacturer are TSMC.
The energy consumption of Triple-1's 7-nanometer chip is 0.05W/GH, which saves at least 50% of the power compared to the conventional 16-nanometer chip.
The Kamikaze chip is the size of a conventional chip, but the circuit density is increased by 5.2 times, and the performance is increased to 300GH/s.
Triple-1 Chairman and CEO Takuya Yamaguchi commented, “Although the mining power is four times that of conventional products, energy consumption will be reduced by 50%.â€
shipping scheduleAccording to Triple-1's development plan, samples of the 7-nanometer mining machine will be completed by the end of September. The mass production of Kamikaze chips is expected to be in mid-October, and the miners can be shipped by the end of November.
Yamaguchi once told the "Sankei Shimbun": We plan to make chip samples in August and start mass production in October, with the goal of 10 million chips per month in fiscal year 2019.
In June, GMO Group also revealed its plans for 7-nanometer mining chips and mining machines. The company now has two Bitcoin mining machines with 7-nanometer chips, namely B2 and B3. These two models are expected to be shipped at the end of October. It was recently reported that Forside, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, plans to sell its own brand of 7-nanometer mining machines.
