Compact installation
Lee said that the spacing between the cylinders of the new Cadillac V8 engine is only 10 mm (0.4 inches), so even though the displacement is 4.2 L, the installation size is 50 mm (2 inches) shorter than the previous version. Each cylinder had an internal diameter of 86 mm and a stroke of 90.2 mm. According to Lee, the relatively narrow installation position between the cylinders does not limit the internal diameter of the cylinder itself.
The V8's six-bolt main bearing cylinder block features A319 aluminum with push-in iron lining. The cylinder head features Rotocast 356 aluminum with a 36mm inlet valve and a 29mm sodium filled row. Valves, crankshafts and connecting rods are made of forged steel.
The redesigned 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport uses the concept of the Escala concept and will use the newly designed 4.2L V8 high-performance engine.
Fuel saving measures

For the 2019 CT6, no matter which version of the V8 engine is used, the vehicle will be equipped with General Motors' Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission, Performance Pre-Shifting/Acceleration System (PAS / PAL) and steering wheel shift control system. The vehicle uses an electronic center console selector design that eliminates the need for traditional physical connections, thus freeing up more interior space.
