Overview

The MAX5094 is a CMOS, high performance, current mode PWM controller with all the features required for a wide input voltage range isolated/non-isolated power supply. These controllers are ideal for low power and high power universal power and telecom power supplies.

The MAX5094 includes a fast comparator that typically has a delay of only 60ns from the current-sense to the output for overcurrent protection. The MAX5094 contains an error amplifier that produces an output on the COMP side. Soft start can be achieved by using an external component to control the rise of the COMP voltage.

The frequency of the oscillator can be adjusted by external resistors and capacitors, ranging from 20kHz to 1MHz. The discharge current of the timing capacitor is fine-tuned to set the dead time and maximum duty cycle at a given frequency. The sawtooth output from the RTCT can be used for slope compensation when needed.
