In the lighting world, at least in the lighting design circle, “culture†is becoming more and more fashionable as a concept. In the texts of many lighting schemes, especially landscape lighting schemes, such phrases as “creating the classical Chinese culture atmosphere†and “reproducing the style of the Shanghai culture†can often be read, and there is a tendency of “no culture and no lightingâ€.
Culture refers to the history, geography, customs, traditions, lifestyles, literature and art, norms of behavior, ways of thinking, and values of a country or nation. We may wish to analyze its cultural attributes from both the use of lighting and the use of lights.
1. What is the cultural attribute of light?
Is there any cultural property?
Physically, light itself does not have cultural attributes. It is just a physical phenomenon, just a wave with a spectrum between 380 nm and 780 nm. Whether it is natural light or artificial light, ignoring the national nation's disregard of historical geography, ignoring the way of thinking, ignoring values, it is an objective existence.
Light is visually related to a certain degree of geography and lifestyle. On the streets of Tokyo, more white light is seen, while in Helsinki, there is more warm white light, which indicates that different people have different preferences for the color of light. However, the difference between this preference is far less obvious than that of the South Sweet North Salt and Spicy West, so deep-rooted. Moreover, individual differences in intensity, color temperature, and the like of individual light are more significant than ethnic differences.
2. The cultural attributes of the lamp?
As a tool for lighting, lamps can be immersed in ethnic, regional, and historical elements and thus have cultural characteristics. Ancient cultural exchanges are far less developed than modern ones. As a kind of living utensils, the original geographical features of the lamps are more obvious. However, modern lighting products almost completely eliminate the differences in ethnic regional culture.
Modern luminaires can be divided into two major categories, one is functional luminaires, in order to achieve efficient and reasonable output of light, its appearance characteristics have been weakened, it is difficult to find cultural features. The other is decorative lighting (lighting), with the stylization of the style as the main appeal, and it is expected to match different styles of space environment. Such lamps are actually facial products. As a decoration, the function of the lamp has been weakened, and at best it is a decoration with a light source.
In the iconic cultural space, the designer stylizes the refined elements, deliberately restores or reproduces the sense of history. At this time, it is difficult to define the cultural profiling or the culture to model things.
