Tesla's home battery system can hold solar power almost without power

[Abstract] Powerwall can save excess power generated during the day and it will not be used at the same time. The intelligent monitoring system can predict the energy consumption according to the local climate conditions.

Tencent's solar energy is currently the most favored type of clean and renewable energy, and it is widely used throughout the world. Even some environmentally-friendly buildings will use solar energy as their sole source of energy supply. However, solar power can be used during the day. How to solve it at night?

Tesla, as an electric vehicle manufacturer, has given us a conclusion that is the introduction of a solar device called Powerwall to save the energy generated during the day for night use. Tesla officially released Powerwall in 2015, and has a set of grand plans and ideas. According to Powerwall's first user feedback a year later, Tesla's current plan is quite successful.

Nick Pfitzner, an Australian Powerwall user, installed the system for $13,000 in early 2016, including solar panels, SolarEdge inverters, Powerwall with 7kWh capacity, and smart electricity storage monitoring systems. This seemingly environmentally friendly and load-bearing solar power system has successfully helped Nick Pfitzner save 92% of its electricity consumption compared to previous years. Since most common solar power systems do not include batteries and monitoring systems, Powerwall has a very significant effect on the efficiency and cost savings for users.

With Powerwall, Pfitzner can save excess power generated during the day and will not be used at the same time. The intelligent monitoring system can predict the energy consumption according to the local climate conditions, and also refer to the local public electricity prices. Therefore, the system will be automatically activated when the local electricity is most expensive, and public electricity will be used when the electricity is lowest in the latter half of the night.

Australia is a country with a very high electricity price. However, due to the abundance of local solar energy resources, the use of solar energy technology in Australia is very popular. Traditional solar systems have a return on investment of 10 to 15 years. After installing Tesla's Powerwall system, the payback period can be reduced by half. Pfitzner said that in eight years, the investment in Powerwall will be completely completed, which is far lower than the 14-18 year ROI cycle previously established by Tesla.
