3D TV will usher in the moment of inflection

According to a survey recently released by the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, consumers’ interest in 3D TV reached a new high of 72.5%. Although from the beginning of the year, the three-dimensional shutter-type 3D vs. non-flash-type 3D has never stopped, but the sales of 3D TVs have been steadily increasing.

Recently, Zheng Yucheng, president of the appliance division of LG Electronics Greater China in the non-flash 3D camp, said in an exclusive interview with the newspaper that during the forthcoming National Day golden holiday season, 3D TV sales are expected to reach around 25% of the overall market, 3D TV will usher in a real "inflection moment."

3D TV becomes a highlight

Compared with the average annual growth rate of more than 30% in the past two or three years, the growth of the Chinese TV market this year appears to be somewhat too slow. Zheng Yucheng revealed that, as a whole, the growth rate of the TV market this year is only about 10%. From the trend, it will be difficult to reproduce the continuous speed-raising run in the past.

However, Zheng Yucheng believes that despite the slowdown in growth, there is still a lot of room for structural growth. The new generation of televisions such as 3D TVs and smart TVs is especially prominent. "At 15:00 this year, 3D TV shipments already accounted for 10% of our overall sales. This figure will reach 20% during the National Day sales season." Zheng Yucheng said that because LG's 3D TVs are based on LED backlights. High-end products are the main products, so it is not possible to compare them with domestic brands that are mainly based on ordinary LCD 3D TVs. If it is from the overall market shipments, 3D TV rushed to a 25% or even higher share in the 11 period is expected.

Use shipments to prove advantage

Shutter-style and non-flash-based technology has always been the top topic in the 3D TV market. As a non-flash technology owner, Zheng Yucheng is naturally optimistic about the prospect of not flashing 3D. He told reporters that the power balance of the entire 3D TV market is now clearly tilted toward the non-flash type. "At 51, the sales volume of both shutter-type and non-flash-type products was about five-five, and now it is basically four or six, which is 40% shutter type and 60% flash type. At 11 o'clock No flash shipments are expected to reach an overwhelming 70%.”

Zheng Yucheng believes that the advantage of not flashing 3D TVs in terms of experience, cost, and comfort has led many television companies with two original camps to significantly increase the output of non-flash 3D products.

3D also talks about differential technology

The same is not flash 3D TV, but LG's products are about 40% more expensive than other brands. Zheng Yucheng explained that because LG used a lot of different technologies to improve 3D visual effects and picture quality. "Not all TVs that use LG DISPLAY without a flash screen have exactly the same 3D effects. The 3D TVs also have to focus on their own unique skills."

Factors that affect 3D visual effects include hardware factors such as backlight, and there are also software-related factors for optimizing calculation processing for 3D images. LG's 3D TVs all use LED backlights. In some high-end models, they also use the latest "thin FULL LED" backlight system, which has several times the screen contrast and brightness than LCD TVs. There is also an obvious advantage in reducing the details. Content short board is expected to break through

The lack of 3D sources and content has always been considered a key obstacle to restricting the popularity of 3D TVs.

However, according to Zheng Yucheng, the solution to this problem is still quite optimistic. He believes that everyone’s traditional 3D content is more focused on movies or TV shows, but from a different perspective, such as LG’s upcoming smartphones with 3D recording capabilities and 3D cameras that are already on the market for some brands, Let users generate 3D content themselves.
