Specifically, the cost of manufacturing 1Gb DDR3 particles based on the 60nm process is approximately 1.3 to 1.4 dollars for manufacturers such as Elpida, Powerchip, Ruijing, and ProMOS. The cost of manufacturing 50nm process 2Gb DDR3 particles from Micron, South Asia and China is about 2.5 USD. Samsung, Hynix, Elpida, and Regent can manufacture 2Gb DDR3 particles at a cost of as low as US$1.50 based on the 40nm process, and there is still considerable profit margin.

Due to the current price trend, most Taiwanese DRAM makers will face more or less losses in the fourth quarter of this year. Due to the fact that Ruijing has been upgraded and upgraded, using Elpida's 45nm technology to increase yields is expected to achieve profitability.
