Recently, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision have separately conducted supervision and random inspections on the quality of lighting products, mainly involving three types of products: movable general-purpose lamps, recessed lamps, and fixed-type lamps. The reporter was informed that the unqualified products in the results of the two spot checks were mostly related to rare items such as durability, harmonic current limit, and power terminal disturbance voltage.

A total of 120 batches of products produced by 120 companies in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guangdong were spot-checked. Last week, the Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision also announced a report on the quality inspection of lighting products. Among the 48 batches of products that were sampled, 15 batches of products failed. Most of the unqualified lamps and lanterns have been "brought on the head" in the "protection against electric shock" indicator, and some products have failed to meet the standards of durability, harmonic current limit, and power terminal disturbance voltage.

According to the reporter's understanding, there are vulgar problems in the lighting products. From September 2011 to July 2012, in less than a year, lighting brand Omega Universal OSRAM had twice appeared on the quality “black list”. In July 2012, an electronic ballast produced by the Mikao Aurora brand was ranked first in the "black list" due to unqualified items such as protection measures of associated components, power terminal disturbance voltage, and harmonic current limit. In March this year, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Industry and Commerce also reported the results of monitoring the quality of lighting equipment in the circulation sector. A total of 14 batches of products were known as "blacklists" for their unsatisfactory projects such as durability and power terminal harassment voltage.

Inspection items and safety are closely related. When we examine the results of quality inspection of several lighting equipment products, it is not difficult to find that items such as protection against electric shock, durability, harmonic current limit, and power terminal disturbance voltage are almost unheard of. However, according to Chang Yi, Secretary-General of Beijing Lighting Association, these little-known detection items are closely related to the safety of lighting products. He said that all inspection items specified in the national standards are compulsory product certification safety inspection items. Among them, items such as protection against electric shock, durability and harmonic wave current limit of lamps and lanterns are also important guarantees for the quality of lighting products. Failure of these projects will bring serious safety risks to consumers.
