The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) headquarters is equipped with Cree Energy-saving CR Series LED troffers. The installation of high-performance LEDs is part of a retrofit project to maximize energy savings in the 600,000-square-foot building.
At present, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration headquarters building has installed more than 1,300 Cree CR22 architectural LED troffers. The owner of the Piedmont Office Realty Trust expects the LED lighting system of the new unit to save more than 52% energy compared to the previously installed T8 fluorescent lamps. It is expected that a 5200 ç› Cree CR22 troffer will be required to complete the lighting upgrade.
Cree's linear luminaires use Cree True White technology to reduce the installed capacity of the Piedmont Office Realty Trust by 10% and increase total energy savings. The new luminaires have a lifespan of more than 50,000 hours, twice the size of linear fluorescent lamps, designed to reduce maintenance and operating costs at NASA headquarters.
The CR22 troffer uses integrated Lutron EcoSystem dimming technology. Controlled by the Lutron Quantum lighting control system, the system provides the flexibility needed to reconfigure and improve the occupant experience in any space and extend LED life. The ability to fine-tune the light level of each luminaire individually and ultimately achieve a perfect lighting environment is the result of a perfect combination of Cree luminaires and Lutron's digital control technology.
