Advantages of capacitive touch technology in household appliances

One of the most important factors people consider when purchasing home appliances is the appearance of the product and the high-end features it supports. With today's highly integrated system-on-a-chip (SoC) processors, designers can not only design new user interfaces (UIs) that use capacitive sensing technology, but also reduce system cost and board space by combining other system features. . At the same time, the SoC accelerates time-to-market as the SoC provides the many components required for system construction on the same chip. In addition, the time required to connect multiple devices and troubleshoot them is significantly reduced.

Figure 1: Induction Cooker Block Diagram

Figure 1 shows a block diagram of an induction cooker. This electrical device must have the following key features:

· Maintain the temperature of the pot: Pulse width modulation (PWM) is required to set the ignition duration of the heating coil.

· Fan control: A temperature sensor and PWM are required to drive the fan motor.

• Overcurrent and overvoltage protection: Analog to digital converters (ADCs) and comparators are required.

· Automatic detection of the pot: electromagnetic induction is required.

· Time base cooking function: Real time clock (RTC) is required.

· User Interface - Display: Requires digital display or LCD glass display driver.

· User Interface - Button: Requires capacitive touch sensing and detection
