Application of SEA-88 Thermal Imager in the Field of Semiconductor Lighting

The role of infrared cameras:
As an infrared imaging instrument, thermal imaging cameras not only occupy a very important position in military applications, but also have strong vitality in civilian applications. In addition to the advantages of infrared thermometers (such as non-contact, fast, temperature measurement for moving targets and small targets, etc.), it also has the following advantages:
(1) Visually display the temperature field of the surface of the object. The infrared thermometer can only display the temperature value of a small area or a certain point on the surface of the object, and the thermal imager can simultaneously measure the temperature of each point on the surface of the object and display it in the form of an image.
(2) High temperature resolution. Infrared thermometers are difficult to distinguish the temperature difference below 0.1 due to various factors, and the thermal imager can accurately distinguish between two temperature points, even up to 0.01;
(3) A variety of display methods are available. The video signal output by the camera contains a large amount of information about the target and can be displayed in a variety of ways. For example, if the video signal is subjected to false color processing, the thermal image of different temperatures can be displayed by different colors; if the inverse video signal is subjected to analog-to-digital conversion processing, the temperature value of each point of the object can be digitally displayed;
(4) Data storage and computer processing are available. The video signal output by the camera can be stored in a digital memory or recorded on a video tape so that it can be used for long-term maintenance and can be processed by a computer.

Industrial product quality control and management is also possible with thermal imaging cameras. In the electronics industry, thermal imaging can also be used to check the quality of semiconductor devices, integrated circuits and printed circuit boards, and to find faults that are difficult to find by other methods.

1. Application in MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) system.

The semiconductor GaN and GaAlInP materials are produced by the MOCVD system, and the temperature of the system controller is particularly high because the production temperature is relatively high and the required current is large (low voltage). The SEA-88 thermal imager can better understand the temperature of the system controller. Figure 1 shows the MOCVD resistance wire heating controller. When the maximum current is heated, the current through the controller is also the largest, and the control board relay appears. The high temperature condition shows the operating temperature in the thermal image.

By observing the thermal image of the controller, the working condition of the device can be debugged, and the optimal heating current can be adjusted to ensure the normal operation of the system. The infrared thermal imager can be used to monitor the working status of the electrical appliances in the system in real time to avoid overloading the equipment. Better set the operating parameters of the device, grow high-quality GaN, GaAlInP materials, and manufacture devices such as light-emitting diodes ( LEDs ), lasers (LDs), and detectors.


Second, in the application of LED (light-emitting diode) product design


SEA-88 using a thermal imager can be widely used in the design of LED, LED products, measuring the heat sink, the thermal resistance and other technical parameters of the product to achieve optimum cooling effect, enhance the life of the product, so as to improve product quality.

(1) Using an infrared camera and an infrared magnifying lens, the average temperature of the surface of the epitaxial wafer when it is illuminated can be visually and non-contactly observed, and processed in software. Figures 1 and 2 are thermal image views of a 0.254 x 0.254 mm LED die.
