According to the data, on November 14, 2016, CREE filed a complaint against the US company Emson in the US District Court of Massachusetts, alleging that Emson's flashlight products infringed its LED technology patents, including Bell + Howell Taclight.

Dave Emerson, senior vice president and general manager of Cree LED Business Unit, once said, “Cree will not tolerate and actively defend against this blatant disregard of its intellectual property rights. We are obliged to assure our customers that the products offered on the market are in line with customer expectations. High quality LED components. We are committed to protecting Cree's investment in research and development on behalf of our customers, shareholders and licensing partners."

It is understood that as part of the complaint, Cree asked for increased damages, lawyer defense fees and an injunction against Emson selling any counterfeit LED products.

We look forward to working with Emson to provide quality products, including Cree's high quality LED chips and components.

After years of intensive research and development, Cree has developed a wide portfolio of LED patents, and many patents are pending.
