Use and technical performance of high voltage capacitors

High-voltage parallel capacitors are mainly used in AC power systems with power frequency (50Hz or 60Hz) 1kV and above to improve power factor and improve power quality.

Technical performance and requirements

1. Capacitance deviation: -5%~+10%. The ratio of the maximum capacitance to the minimum capacitance measured between any two line terminals in three phases should not exceed 1.06.

2. The dielectric loss tangent tan δ is at the rated voltage Un, at 20 °C:

A. For the film paper composite medium: tan δ ≤ 0.0012.

B. For full film media: tan δ ≤ 0.0005.

3. The continuous running voltage is 1.0Un, and the long-term overvoltage maximum value does not exceed 1.1Un.

4. Steady-state overcurrent (including harmonic current) does not exceed 1.43In.

5. The maximum allowable capacity does not exceed 1.35Qn.

6. The altitude of the installation and operation area shall not exceed 1000m.

7. Installation and operation area ambient air temperature range -50 ~ +55 °C.

8. When put into operation, the residual voltage on the terminals should not exceed 0.1Un.

9. Installation and operation site should be free of severe mechanical vibration, no harmful gases and vapors, no conductivity and explosive dust.
