San Diego, February 21, 2018-Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), today announced the enhanced features of Qualcomm TrueWireless â„¢ stereo technology (Qualcomm TrueWireless â„¢ Stereo). Qualcomm is one of the pioneers of the concept of true wireless stereo technology, which requires no cables at all, not only between the media source and headphones, but also between the left and right earbuds, thus providing users with cable-free stereo audio Experience, while supporting new use cases such as ear-worn devices.
The recently released QCC5100 series of breakthrough Bluetooth audio system-on-chips (SoCs) can support the next generation of Qualcomm TrueWireless technology. Compared to our previous generation devices, this series of SoCs can help reduce voice calls and music streaming by up to 65% Power consumption. This fully integrated single-chip solution provides manufacturers with an efficient way to control and manage true wireless connections in earbuds, and it can be packaged in an ultra-small form factor wafer-level 4mm x 4mm chip scale package (CSP) Available in conjunction with a complete set of software (audio development kit) to support the development of a new generation of highly compact, feature-rich wireless earbuds and ear-worn devices.
The updated Qualcomm TrueWireless stereo technology runs on the QCC5100 SoC, which can improve the user experience and listening experience for consumers without being limited to the smartphone platform. It also supports a simpler pairing experience without the need to match a separate earbud. The above technical update also supports the function of automatically switching the main and auxiliary earplugs between each earplug, so that the power consumption can be more evenly balanced between the earplugs to support a longer playing time.
Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus is an additional mode of this technology, which can connect the mobile terminal and two earbuds simultaneously, thus eliminating the Bluetooth® transmission requirement between the two earbuds. In this new operating mode, only relevant audio content will be transmitted to each earbud, helping to improve stability and achieve a more even power balance. When paired with a terminal based on the QCC5100 series and the Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ 845 mobile platform, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus can help reduce power consumption by up to 10%, and usually provides an additional hour of listening time before recharging is required. In addition, because both earbuds are directly connected to the smartphone, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus can further simplify the pairing experience when the earbuds and mobile terminal are connected, and help reduce latency.
